Lagos State Governor Masks His One Year Anniversary! See What He Did For Lagosians

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu today marks his one year anniversary in office as the 4th democratically elected and the 15th Governor of the State.

Sanwo-Olu who was a former banker and a public administrator, Managing Director/CEO of Lagos State Property Development Corporation.

He contested his primary election against the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode under the platform of All Progressive Congress and was declared winner.

Before his election, Governor Sanwo-Olu held several leadership positions both in Government and private institutions. Worked under three Governors including;

His appointment by Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry. Also was appointed the Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions under Governor Babatunde

Fashola and Finally worked under his predecessor Governor Akinwumi Ambode as the Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation.

Today is exactly his one year in office as he was inaugurated on the 29th of May 2019 as Lagos State Governor at the Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos Island after winning against his opponent Jimi Agbaje.

According to his statement while expressing his gratitude said ''I am thankful to God, the leadership of my party and to all Lagosians for the opportunity to serve and I remain committed to the work and to sustaining this drive till we achieve the greater Lagos of our dreams".

He however listed his achievements since his inception in office. "We have a long journey of growth and development ahead of us but I am proud to tell you that we have made strides in all sectors of the state from education, security, environment, health care, housing, infrastructure, social services, support for the private sector and MSMEs".

While counting down on his assumption of office, said "365 days ago, I began my journey as the Executive Governor of the Centre of Excellence and the 5th largest economy in Africa.

Exactly one year ago, I made a solemn promise before God and to all faithfully serve the people of Lagos" he concluded.

Also, an award of honour were given to workers who have shown commitment in the fight against the corona virus. The ten front line health workers according to him committed themselves to their fight against covid 19 and as represent the values and virtues that are important to them as a government.

Lagos state topping in the list of the affected states, was noted by Sanwo-Olu as the epicenter of the outbreak in the country, where so many sacrifices and strategic leadership happens at all levels of their response team. He went further to state their togetherness and continued effort of the government since they are still entangled with the virus and are also making efforts to attain victory over it.

Meanwhile yesterday witnessed a surprise package as the Governor commissioned the 264 units of flats at the Court land Luxury Villas and Ikate Elegushi Lekki Apartments, where he restated his determination of his administration to build affordable houses for Lagosians.

This housing scheme was initiated by a former Governor of the State Babatunde Fashola as a way of supporting civil servants who are finding it difficult to secure an apartment.

He equally expressed that lack of funds was his challenge as he accomplished the project through the public-private partnership model. "This is a manifestation of the possibilities attainable when the public and private sectors come together to pursue a mutually beneficial goal.

This cooperation remains a useful means of meeting the shortfall in the supply of public utilities and social infrastructure" he concluded.
