Imo Ranks Low On The Latest NCDC Covid 19 List



Imo Records Low On The New Release
Imo State has recorded it's lowest figure on Covid 19 in the newly released list by NCDC. The State recorded just 3 cases as pointed out by the agency involved. Recall that on 26th May, 2020, the State recorded about 33 cases which led to unrest and curfew across the state

While States like Oyo, Lagos, FCT records high in the list. This was released on Twitter by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control on Friday at 11:45pm, 24th July 2020.

The States involved as pointed out by NCDC are: Oyo - (191), Lagos State - (168), FCT - (61), Ondo - (29) , Osun - (26), Ebonyi State - (24), Edo State - (23), Ogun State - (14), Rivers State - (13), Akwa Ibom State - (12), Kaduna State - (10), Kastina State - (6), Borno State - (4), Ekiti State - (3), Delta State (3), Imo State - (3), Niger - (1)


According to report attributed to the State Government, non wearing of facemasks will soon be criminalized and stringent action be taken on defaulters. Government of Imo State thereby admonishes it's citizens to comply with security agencies and those committed with the responsibilities of checkmating non compliance of face masks.

Industrial action was set up few weeks ago to convict those who fails in this regard. Everyone is therefore advised to move along side their face masks as properly directed by NCDC and other related health agencies to limit the spread of Covid 19.

Residents of Isiala Mbano, Okigwe, Obowo, Orlu, Owerri, Mbaise and some others are currently been clamped upon by security agencies for purportedly refusing to wear face masks. According to report, a whooping sum of 5 thousand Naira is involved in securing release in case you are ducked.

Nigeria currently has recorded about 39, 539 confirmed cases, discharging 16,559 while 845 are dead. As the Country continues to record higher figures daily, Federal Government rolls out measures including continued closure of schools at all levels to avoid further spread.

The NCDC continues to widen its tentacles through setting up of different Molecular Laboratory Network around the 36 States of the Country, by strictly working with Public and Private laboratory institutions to tackle the virus. Creation of awareness by different individuals and organisations has contributed to lower lesser cases.

In addition to the existing Laboratory Networks provided and certified by the agency in charge, 7 more fee-paying laboratories have been incorporated to help facilitate and to also ensure best results during testing.

This was also done in line with the guidelines, mechanisms and principles of engagement provided by NCDC as part of integration of the private sector laboratories on National Covid 19 response.
