Obaseki Delivers Victory Speech
The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party delivers his victory at the situation room speech as the Independent National Electoral Commission declares him the winner of the Edo 2020 gubernatorial election.

Edo State election which has lasted close to 24 hours, started on Saturday 19 September 2020 has come to an end. Godwin Obaseki will be returning for the second time in office after a series of long battles between his present party as against his former one.

Recall that Obaseki defected to the Peoples Democratic Party after a clash with APC, which led to his dumping the party to his present one. As of yesterday, several reports of irregularities were encountered ranging from some party members allegedly buying votes, alterations of results at few collation centers, security agencies intimidating voters, and so forth.

In a bid to protect and defend their votes, Edo State Youths in their hundreds kept vigil at different Collation Centres prior to the final result declarations. This came as the Chairman of the Committee on Edo State campaign and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and the former PDP Presidential Candidate on the 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar called on the youths to tarry nights so as to defend their franchise.

Speaking from the situation room, the Governor delivering his votes of thanks says the Edo citizens have spoken and have spoken loud and clear. He thanked God for the victory granted to him, and also extended the same to President Buhari for defending the democracy. 
Having satisfied the requirement of the electoral act, polling a total vote of 307,955 while Ize-Iyeamu polled a total of 223,619. Defeating APC candidate with a margin of 84337 votes. He was declared the winner at exactly 3:20 PM Sunday 20 September 2020.

Godwin will be returning for a second term as the Edo State Governor.
