ASUU Ready To End Its Months Strike On Wednesday

ASUU to end strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities in Nigeria has raised the hope of its students Nationwide as it urges all to be prepared to go to school come Wednesday. A message from its leadership on Twitter on Saturday 14 November 2020, urges every Federal University Student to get ready as it expects reasonable response from the government on Wednesday.

"All Federal University students should prepare for resumption as we expect positive outcome from ASUU on Wednesday."

The nine months old strike which began in February has suffered several set back as both parties are said to be at loggerhead with each other practically ending every meeting in deadlock. Few days back the academic body had advised students to travel, have fun, and acquire new skill(s).

ASUU's call for school resumption has generated a lot of reactions especially amongst students as most voiced that they have lost confidence in the body following their long never resolving issues. While the government insist on its Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System (IPPIS) which it has imposed on the union to enable them pay them their owed salaries. The union on the other rejects the system, says it is meant to deduct the lecturers money in form of taxes.

The body therefore, projects its own means of payment known as UTAS(University Transparency Account System) which the Federal Government is yet to give its consent.
