Court Dismisses Ex-Imo North Senator 24 Hours To Election

Court sacks Ararume
The Federal High sitting in Abuja today Friday November 4 dismissed ex-senator, Ifeanyi Goodwin Ararume barely 24 hours before Imo North senatorial by-election.

According to media report, the judgement which was delivered by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam countered the Federal High Court's judgement in Abuja by Justice Okon Inyang which had nullified Frank Ibezim's election as the APC flag bearer in Imo State.

The bye-election holds tommorow Saturday December 5, 2020 across 64 wards in the six local government area of the state.

Further report also revealed that the Appeal Court Justice ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately reinstall Sir Frank Ibezim as the right candidate of the party.

He also faulted the judgement delivered at the High Court which saw Ibezim sacked in favour of Ararume.

Following his dismissal today by the court, several reactions have been generated with regards to that, as some maintained that the courts decision to sack him is a welcome development citing that his coming out for such position in the district will do no good to the area.

Ararume had been a two term senator representing Okigwe senatorial zone from 1999 - 2007. He was said to have served as the Chairman, Senate Committee on power and steel development, Chairman, Committee on Urban development under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Also known as Agu Isiebu, Ararume is a high ranking senator and a business tycoon but known to be controversial in election matters.
